Celtic Frost

Celtic Frost appear tonight in Melbourne, myself and boyfriend Alex Burns who is always bestowed with superb knowledge on just about everything, has sent me some info. Hope to see you folks in the mosh, or at least alive tomorrow πŸ™‚ gg πŸ™‚ xx

=======================================

Have left a gold CD of the Celtic Frost albums for you (they disown “Cold Lake” now so it’s not included). “Morbid Tales” (1984) is very speed/punk; “To Mega Therion” (1985) adds neoclassical orchestration and an opera singer; “Into The Pandemonium” (1987) is their most influential album on doom/death/gothic metal, with New Wave and opera influences, “Vanity/Nemesis” (1990) is more commercial thrash, and “Monotheist” (2006) is doom/gothic.

The band used H.R. Giger and Hieronymus Bosch artwork for their album covers. “Tristesses de la lune” is the first really well known neoclassical/death metal track, a Lautremont poem from “Les Chants de Maldoror” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lautremont

Cofounder Martin Eric Ain:

“Symbols don’t wear thin. The symbol is the most powerful expression of basic emotions, needs that we as human beings have – be it the cross, the horns of the devil, or the figure of the snake – that go way, way, way back to the beginning of the culturalization of humanity. If one realizes that, one has the chance of creating meaning, putting one’s personal definition into that symbol. This is very Jungian – you know, Carl Jung, the famous psychiatrist?” http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/2006-10-19/music/heavy-metal-catechism/
