Spicy Elephant – the quickest way to put stuff in your brain
Posted on August 4th, 2008 No commentsWe are all about moving stuff from your short-term memory, to your long term memory.
Theory
Some theory factoids:
- Flashcards: Pros: One of the best systems for learning. Cons: Time can be wasted reviewing cards already mastered. (more..)
- Spaced Repetition: An improved learning method for flashcards where the interval between training/learning on cards is spaced over time, according to a schedule. Two scheduling approaches include the Leitner and Supermemo systems. (more…)
- Leitner System: Assign cards to boxes that define their difficulty. All cards start in the easiest box, progressing in difficulty when a mistake is made, or decreasing in difficulty when they are answered correctly. The system allows you to target a difficulty level, or use a fixed interval multiplied by a day coefficient to let the system decide when the best time to train for a card will be. (more…)
- Supermemo System: (of which we use a variation) An improved spaced repetition system that uses adaptive intervals based on the users card-specific memory profile. The most powerful memorization system available.
