  • If you never liked Billy Bob Thornton (The Cosmic Cowboy) you’ll like him less after seeing this!

Looking serious from the start of the interview with his band Box Masters during a CBC interview, Billy Bob Thornton made his annoyance known as he initially remained silent despite getting asked direct questions, later gave unenthusiastic answers, and then ended with an angry flash at his film background getting referred to. The host of the show Jian Ghomeshi spoke to RadarOnline.com about his now infamous exchange with Thornton.

“People that have seen the video think he’s an obstinate and pompous guy,” Ghomeshi said. “I didn’t think he was spaced out or drugged up. That’s not the impression that I got. It was morning- but from the get-go he was belligerent.”

  • Died Pretty’s Free Dirt reissue 2CD

Died Pretty’s magnificent 1986 debut LP: Free Dirt is one of the all-time classic Australian albums. It followed 3 excellent singles / EP’s and signalled the arrival of what would become one of our most-loved bands over their celebrated 18 year career.

Collected here, for the first time, are Died Pretty’s first five releases: the ‘Out Of The Unknown’ and ‘Mirror Blues’ singles, the Next To Nothing EP, the Free Dirt album and the ‘Stoneage Cinderella’ single. PLUS an additional 10 bonus tracks – including previously unreleased demos, a live-to-air radio performance from 1986 and other live rarities.

This deluxe 2CD version is packaged in an 8 panel digi-pak, with a 28 page booklet containing many previously unpublished photos. It has been digitally remastered from the original master tapes.

2008 has been a remarkable year for Died Pretty, who reformed for the “Don’t Look Back” Series of concerts in February / March. Following some rapturously received DLB shows, and their upcoming induction into the EG Hall Of Fame, the band have agreed to extend their reformation to The Age EG awards on the 4th. of December (said to be their last ever club show). They have also been invited to play at Homebake on the 5th. Of December and The Big Day Out 2009.

  • Review of John Lydon’s Reissued Biography

Sex Pistol John Lydon is ‘Rotten’ again

    Johnnyrottengallery

Why should you listen to Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten, a.k.a. John Lydon? Because he’s punker than you, he always was and he always will be. And he’s not afraid to say so. He says this and much, much more in “Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs,” just reissued by Picador. “I have no time for lies or fantasy and neither should you,” he writes by way of introduction. “Enjoy or die.”

  • 30 years of AC/DC

The zeitgeist can be a keen ironist. Even as the punks of the mid-1970s were fuming and scheming in their English or American ratholes, menacing the future with dreams of a stripped-down rock ‘n’ roll noise that would kill all the hippies forever, their omens were being unexpectedly fulfilled by two tiny Scotsmen in Sydney, Australia. By 1975, the band built by Malcolm Young and his little brother Angus was already the complete statement: sawn-off Chuck Berry riffs, blood-throb bass, pistonlike 4/4 drums, and boisterously anti-social lyrics, everything delivered with a special edge of mania.
