Four hour work week

It’s  a book which people have been talking about for a while now. Alex picked it up for me yesterday, as he knows I am trying to find ways to work less, still pay the bills and corect my ever increasing computer-related health problems! ((sigh))

The Four Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris: http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/

Here’s a summary so far of his DEAL model:

1. Definition

– Separation of income generation from time and space – Negative impact of company environment

2. Elimination

– Cost innovation – Lean thinking – Pareto’s 80/20 rule – Selective ignorance – Real options pricing for delayed decisions

3. Automation

– Process automation – Business Process Outsourcing

4. Liberation

– Geographic arbitrage – Mini-retirement – Relative income – Lifestyle costs
