  • Tinariwen – guitar poets at Hamer Hall

Tinariwen are guitar-poets from the southern Sahara desert. They fuse the influences of the blues with the rhythms & sounds of their traditional culture.  Their rolling yearning grooves and uncompromising messages of simplicity and freedom, distilled over twenty years of struggle, rebellion & exile, have earned them two BBC World Music Award nominations, countless accolades, the attention of high-profile fans such as Robert Plant, Santana, Edge & Thom Yorke, & the enduring respect of their own people, the nomadic Touareg of  the Sahara.
