A one-day exhibition of Japanese artist Nobuhiro Shimura’s projection installation Dress: 4th August #Melbourne #geekgirl

NOBUHIRO SHIMURA, DRESS

Nobuhiro Shimura is a projection artist who delights in presenting his work in public space. Reconfigurable and site-specific, his playful projections often repurpose everyday sites into exhibition spaces. His projections draw upon everyday materials and objects, such as paperclips, matches, buttons and sneakers. Seen both in galleries and public spaces, Shimura’s work has been projected onto ribbons, water, public walls and walkways.

MELBOURNE:  MEDIA LAB MELBOURNE AND GERTRUDE STREET PROJECTION FESTIVAL SPRINT

Media Lab Melbourne will be running its fourth Sprint as part of the Gertrude Street Projection Festival. Working out of Seventh Gallery at 155 Gertrude St, they will be re-imagining the possibilities of projections and screens during the Antiscreen Sprint. This event will explore alternate methods of projecting light. They are interested in understanding and exploring the cultural effects of technology and will be breaking down the familiar and reconstructing it into a new form. Media Lab Melbourne will be leading an intensive nine day workshop on unconventional, novel and subverted light imagery techniques.
