UK – DISCLOSURES

Disclosures is a multi-faceted project that looks at the manifestations of Open Source methodologies in fields of cultural production outside of the Internet. Of relevance here are practices which are committed to releasing public information and resources that have been out of civic reach for political, economic, historic or bureaucratic reasons. The various facets of the project will attempt to find a common language and to set up the basis for improved understanding and greater collaboration between the two fields. Participants: Oliver Ressler | Eileen Simpson and Ben White (Open Music Archive)

Location: Mother/333, 33 Old St, London Date: 27th March – 18th May 2008 Various locations, London Organised by Anna Colin and Mia Jankowicz http://www.gasworks.org.uk

A-LURE: A LOCATIVE MEDIA GAME

Come and play the real world between April 12th -20th, as streets and buildings become the canvas for innovative media artworks that trigger social interactions and active engagement within the community. The A-LURE game elements are artworks installed as digital projections, interactive video, sound works and other innovative media throughout the City of Melbourne.  Mobile phones and the internet will be used as tools to discover, interact and create where players are ‘lured’ to locate and interact with the artworks in public spaces.

A-LURE examines the modern cultural lures present in our society that tempt us away from confidence, self-respect and acceptance. Through A-LURE, young people with experience of hardship and artists at Visionary Images have been collaborating to create alternative ‘lures’ that will encourage empathy, understanding and respect for cultural diversity. Game players can also add their own ‘lures’ via the internet or mobile phone.

Start to play the real world by registering as a game player by: SMS: text the word ‘register’ followed by a nickname of your choice to 0428 141 103 or b) WEB: visit www.a-lure.org and follow the instructions.

The Good Shepherd’s Circus Pie Classic

Musicians are renowned for struggling to put food on their own tables, so when a bunch of them donate their time to a charity cook-off event raising money for the disadvantaged, you know it’s something special!

The second annual hits the stage of The Corner Hotel, Melbourne on Sunday 4th May. It’s a unique raucous rock’n’roll cook-off where a star studded host of celebrities will hit the hot plates to create culinary delights and have the odd food-fight to raise funds for Melbourne’s Good Shepherd Youth And Family Service. Providing equality, dignity and security for kids and families who have had a rough trot in life, The Good Shepherd’s core focus is to foster skills for people to help themselves.

Joining the furious cook-off will be house-bands belting out tunes from The Corner Hotel side stage : Melbourne’s favourite party band, Dynamo, alt-country rockers Downhills Home, a rare performance by The Blackeyed Susans, and also the titillating The Town Bikes

The Good Shepherd’s Circus Pie Classic is all about : musicians, comedians, and media personalities getting out of their comfort zone and into the hot seat where they will prepare an array of tasty morsels live on stage for expert food critic John Lethlean and media personality Tracee Hutchison, this year’s judging panel.

Working in teams to live music provided by the aforementioned house-bands, witness the culinary prowess of Chefs Adam Rozenbachs (comedy writer), Ally Spazzy (The Spazzys), Jon Chapple (Shooting At Unarmed Men), Cameron Potts (Baseball/Ninety-Nine), Kate Langbroek (NovaFM/The Panel), Willy Zygier, Deborah Conway, Kim Salmon (Scientists/The Surrealists), and Rebecca Barnard (solo and ex-Rebecca’s Empire) battle it out in a clash of cuisines at the Circus Pie Stadium. MCs Clem Bastow and Angus Sampson will oversee the mayhem.

It’s a melting pot of musical chaos, all in the name of a good cause. The 2008 Circus Pie Classic is proudly supported by Beat, InPress, 3RRR and 3PBS, with additional support from The Corner Hotel, Mannys, McCormick, DPA, Rockposters, The Downie Breitkreuz Group, Lance Rock Publicity, Crumpler, Pink Noise, Annabel Trends and Dangerfield.

Sunday 4th May – The Good Shepherd’s Circus Pie Classic Tickets $15 + BF and available at the Corner Hotel Box Office, phone 03 9427 9198 or www.cornerhotel.com
