Step into the ocean and use your shadow to interact with sea creatures without getting wet! Experimenta are pleased to announce that from June, Immersion, an Experimenta New Visions Commission will be installed at the NGV Children’s Gallery as part of an Light Play, an exhibition that explores multiple perspectives on light through interaction, education and play. Immersion is an interactive artwork by Australian artists Angela Barnett, Andrew Buchanan, Darren Balingall, Chris MacKellar and Christian Rubino.

Due to popular demand and overwhelming success, Experimenta will be running a second Experimenta Artist Lab as part of Experimenta Utopia Now, International Biennial of Media Art.
Experimenta Artist Lab is a space for innovation, experimentation, creative collaborations and learning new skills. The ‘workshop’ style lab is designed to give artists, designers and other creative types the tools and skills they need to move their existing practice into the interactive realm introducing them to the basic technology needed to produce physically interactive artworks. The second Experimenta Artist Lab will be run by Jesse Stevens and Tim Humphrey
who both have extensive experience running workshops as well as working with interactive technology in a variety of artistic and creative contexts will facilitate the workshop.

Ever wanted to play with puffer fish and electric eels without getting wet? How about watching your shadow take on monstrous features as it grows scales, teeth, eyes and horns?
Escape into Experimenta Playground, an exhibition of artworks that beg to be touched and invite your interaction.
Experience this exhibition of innovative and playful artworks and videos by over 30 Australian and international artists. With interactive artworks, video installations and extreme art on screen, this is art that steps out from the shadows of computer games and leaves mouse, keyboard and joystick behind.
