UNFURL HOLOGRAPHIC INSTALLATION
Appearing in two shop-front windows in Sydney over the new year will be the life-size holograms Unfurl. These incredible pieces blend digital and optical technology to present holographic images that stretch beyond reality. Subtly animated, the images capture two life-size figures, hesitantly emerging from the holographic scene. As you approach they beckon you into their enchanting world, yet remain forever elusive, suspended in light. Unfurl is the result of a collaboration between holographic artist Martina Mrongovius and garment designer Sruli Recht. This project was an Experimenta New Visions Commission produced with the assistance of Mark Ruff, Ged Wright and Dr John Perry at Holographics North.
The Sydney Illumination opens Friday 28 December, 8-10 pm at Don’t Look Gallery – 419 New Canterbury Rd, Dulwich Hill, Sydney.
