MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL: CALL FOR ENTRIES

Filmmakers around Australia and across the globe have until 4 March to submit their feature film and until 7 April to submit their short film for entry into the Melbourne International Film Festival’s (MIFF) 2008 program.

The most highly regarded short film competition in the Asia Pacific, the Best Bigpond MIFF shorts competition screens approximately 100 short films every year, including animation, experimental, documentary and fiction films. In 2008, the Festival will offer filmmakers from around the world the opportunity to compete for 10 awards, with prize money totalling $35,000. The awards on offer are: City of Melbourne Grand Prix for Best Short Film, Best Fiction, Experimental, Documentary and Animation Short Films, Best Student Production, Award for Short Film Promoting Human Rights, Film Victoria Erwin Rado Award for Best Australian Short Film, Emerging Australian Filmmaker and Creative Excellence in an Australian Short Film.

The Melbourne International Film Festival attracts the best films not just in Australia, but from around the world.

Entry forms are available online at http://www.melbournefilmfestival.com.au/ Short films must be Victorian premieres to be eligible for the competition. The 2008 festival will run from July 25 – August 10.
