Last year Melbourne comedian Nelly Thomas squeezed out her first human … and she feels like she hasn’t got anything right since. Nelly thought no-one could make her feel more guilt than her mother. Then she became one.

While she was pregnant Nelly did not, like Sarah Jessica Parker, “work out” every day. Nor did she, like Angelina Jolie, travel to war-torn countries saving refugees. And she certainly did not, like Julia Roberts, find herself feeling “the sexiest I’ve ever felt”. She couldn’t have felt less sexy if she was in a coma … and Sam Newman was there.

Since winning the national Raw Comedy competition almost five years ago Nelly Thomas has taken the Melbourne comedy scene by storm. She has four Melbourne Comedy Festivals, two Melbourne Fringe Festivals and two stints at the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival under her belt in addition to numerous gigs around the country. Her material is often described as “intelligent” and “cutting edge” which amuses her no-end given that she’s watched Neighbours for 20 years.
