Poltergay

All dressed up with nowhere to go?

Feature Image Poltergay

Come into ACMI where it’s party time!

Described as a cross between The Sixth Sense and Queer Eye for a Straight Guy, Eric Lavaine’s Poltergay epitomises the eclectic mix of features, short films and documentaries that have made the 18th Melbourne Queer Film Festival one of the best ever – and there’s more to come! While the 2008 festival closes this weekend, there are still plenty of opportunities to catch the best queer films from around the world. Ever wondered what happened to Tori Spelling (smile and nod politely)? Catch her in Kiss the Bride, a snappy comedy from C. Jay Cox also starring Joanna Cassidy. Funny girl Margaret Cho also makes an appearance in Lorene Machondo’s Bam Bam & Celeste. And don’t miss Lucía Puenzo’s XXY, Argentina’s official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category at this year’s Academy Awards and winner of two prizes at Cannes. Screening on Sunday night, XXY will be followed by the Closing Night Party in the Festival Club. Come out, come out wherever you are!
