A movie called Dope

My name was Diane Rochlin and I was a collaborator in the film Vali (1965) by Sheldon Rochlin. We (Sheldon and I) thereafter made a movie called Dope  (completed ’68,) shot in  London, which contains several very brief scenes with Vali Myers from the time that she came to  London to dance onstage at a Donovan concert at Royal Albert Hall. Sheldon died in 2002,  and I am the surviving filmmaker.

I have recently started a website http://www.dopethemovie.net to show this totally underground classic, which features besides Vali (and Rudi Rappold), Caroline Thomson who lived near Vali in a cave when we were filming the movie Vali  (and who appears in the Vali movie having her forehead tattooed) and also Casey Deiss (who also lived in Positano and who is also dead these many years-struck by lightning in Italy shortly after we completed the filming of Dope).

So, I’m writing this to inform you of the new website for the movie Dope which may be of interest for the many devotees of Vali on your website.

There is a trailer for the movie on the site, and the movie itself can be watched by streaming video or else ordered on DVD.

By the way, the black and white photo of Vali with Foxy on your site was taken by me. It was published as part of a large 3 page photo collage and letters from Vali to Sheldon and me in Aspen Magazine psychedelic issue (1971)

All best wishes Flame Schon (formerly Diane Rochlin)
