Fireworks ban long weekend

The only places left in Australia where you can enjoy fireworks on the Queens Birthday are about to ban them.

Recent media coverage has highlighted the uncertain future of fireworks sales and home usage. Key industry representatives including Canberra’s largest fireworks retailer Adamnevefireworks.com agree that a ban on fireworks is most likely after this season.

The ABC News reported Mr Barr as saying “I intend to review the effectiveness of these changes following the 2008 Queens Birthday long weekend…” and ” …there are some people who are absolutely 100 per cent adamant a ban must be put in place.”

The Australian Capital Territory Government reduced fireworks sales from eight days to three and announced a review which may ban future sales altogether. The Northern Territory Government reduced the sale of fireworks to one day only this year and banned prior advertising in preparation for a full ban.
