Backstage :NYC: Photographic Exhibition

An intimate photographic exhibition that offers an inside story on the New York burlesque scene.

Sydney choreographer Catherine Hourihan returns after 12 years in New York City with an exhibition of intimate backstage photos from her time as a burlesque performer at venues like the Slipper Room, Rififi and the infamous Red Vixen Burlesque in New York City.

Entitled ‘BACK STAGE NYC!’ her photos show the reality behind the glitter. Capturing authentic, personal moments and featuring some of New York’s most colourful burlesque characters including the World Famous BOB, Little Brooklyn, Dottie Lux and more! From midtown to Coney Island Back Stage NYC offers a unique insight into New York’s influential and lively burlesque scene.

“The time I spent as a burlesque performer in New York was very special to me. It’s great to be back in Sydney and I hope this exhibition gives people here a sense of the exciting, fun, surreal, and some times even melancholy world of back stage burlesque.” Ms. Hourihan said.

Local burlesque stars Mia Mortal and Gypsy Wood will grace opening night.
