Playing it safe online – Aussie Mum develops virtual world for 8-12 year olds
ekidnaworld.com is the brainchild of Brisbane mother of 2, Karen Orford. This exciting new virtual world targeted at the 8-12 year market is an Australian themed, age appropriate website that will both entertain and educate.
A unique feature of ekidnaworld.com is Mate Safety™ an optional add-on safety feature enabling parents to choose/control who their child chats with while online in ekidna World. Surveys show online safety continues to be a major issue of concern for parents of this age group.
Ms Orford developed ekidnaworld.com as she observed her own children become involved with websites created by Disney. “Australia has such diverse landscapes and unique animals that I believed a virtual world involving all these essential Australian characteristics would really appeal to children here and overseas”, said Ms Orford on the launch of her website.
Once children have entered ekidnaworld there are 10 wonderfully unique Australian animal characters to choose from each with their own special dance. The children can move with their character through the many regions of ekidna World, these include; The Rainforest, The Beach, a Tropical Island, The Swamp, The City, The Snowy Mountains, The Bush and of course the famous Australian Outback.
